anxietygrrlSo there's a drabble meme going around this week? That is odd, because last Sunday while I was bored (ohsoveryverybored) at work, I decided it was Drabble Sunday, and set out to write ten exactly one-hundred-word drabbles. I made a list of ten fandoms and everything.
I got three. They're not very good.
And they're all Creegan/Branca. Because I am just that sad.

He'd learned the Rules of Branca like he'd had to learn 'Socks, Then Shoes': drill and repetition. Rule No. 1: She's Off Limits That Way. Simple enough at first. But while over time some things had gotten easier -- 'Don't Swallow Toothpaste', 'Green Means Go' -- the Rules of Branca only got progressively fuzzier, constantly revised. 'Off Limits That Way' now seemed more of an arbitrary challenge than 'Socks, Then Shoes' had ever been.
"You're quiet," she said.
"I'm picturing you naked. Any birthmarks or tattoos I should know about?"
She held eye contact. "Maybe."
Her smile broke at least three Rules.

'Give it up,' she almost said. 'You have long since lost the ability to make me blush.' But she held her tongue, because she certainly enjoyed watching him try. She enjoyed watching him, period. Of course he knew this, which was why even if he couldn't ruffle her feathers he would never stop trying to get under her skin. That was a talent he couldn't lose. Under her skin, on her nerves, in her blood; he was there, and she'd let him right in. 'How much farther are you willing to go?' she almost asked.
But she held her tongue.

"I don't know what that guy's problem was. Everybody else loves me. You love me, don't you, Susan?"
"Let me count the ways."
"Did I ever tell you sarcasm gets me hot?"
"Oh, but I mean it."
"Try not to smirk when you say that."
"I love you in all the ways that are reasonable and appropriate. As a good friend, as a trusted colleague, and as the unique and special human being that you are."
"Cool. Not in the naked way, though?"
She walked ahead of him, pace steady, head high.
"...Maybe a little bit in the naked way."

Me and Creegan have so much in common. This is why we are meant 2 b 4 eva!!1 You know, after him and Susan and what not. This is a line I will have to remember for future reference.

I love when people love in the naked way. Because good friend, trusted colleague, unique and special human being, blah blah blah blah only goes so far. Besides Susan loving Creegan in the naked way is still reasonable. Not so much with the appropriate though.
